- Boards List v1.0 [PPE for PCB 15.2+]
- Coded by Drake

-
- As you have gathered, this is a bulletin board lister. I have seen
- many PPE's out there that accomplish this task, but all of them seem to
- lack one thing or another. I have thrown together a list of features to
- give you an idea of what exactly this PPE does.
-
- -* Dbase III+ This allows fast and efficient storage/retrieval of
- data, rather than just dumping to a text file.
- -* Configurability 99% of the text, prompts, and colors can be changed.
- -* Interface Lightbar/hotkey interface allow editing with ease.
- -* Manipulation Entries can be added, removed, deleted, edited,
- or packed by date.
- -* Identification Each entry records who added it so that the person
- who added the entry or people with 'edit access' can
- modify that entry.
- -* Transferal The list may be output to an ascii text file and
- then downloaded from the program.
- -* Dates When an entry is added or edited, a date stamp is
- embedded in that entry so that records older than
- mm/dd/yy can be deleted in one command.
-
- I encourage you to take a look at this yourself, and perhaps use it.
- I would also appreciate any ideas or suggestions you have for making this
- PPE even more awesome than it already is ;) Installation is easy, so try
- it and see how you like it.

-
- Simply add the path and name of the PPE in your CMD.LST (found within
- PCBSetup), and you should be set. Edit the bbslist.col file to change the
- color scheme around, bbslist.cfg to set access levels and prompts, and
- bbslist.pcb to change the main menu backround.
-
- All of the default values work great, however you may wish to change
- the default security level for edit and delete access. The user who adds
- an entry will always be able to modify or delete it. And regardless of
- the value you define, users who have full sysop access will be able to
- edit or remove any entry.

- I just want to make a comment about this program and dbase routines.
- If you havent already, and are a coder, take a look at the DBase routines
- that were introduced in PPL 3.0. They offer a lot of flexibility and
- efficiency with file and data manipulation, and I found it was not very
- hard at all to integrate DBase routines into my programs. There is a
- great DBase for PPL introduction file that was included with PCBoard,
- called howtodbf.txt. I would be more than happy to share my source with
- people who wish to learn more about DBase or PPL coding in general.
-
- I encourage any suggestions or criticisms you may have about this
- program. You can reach me on my board, Nuclear Insemination, and I'll
- be more than willing to answer any questions or listen to any critiques
- you may have. Otherwise, you can catch me on IRC as '_Drake_'. Lates.
